The Engagement Model

Show progress for children not yet in subject-specific learning

Staff rate five areas after each session. Small changes that are easy to miss become a clear line on a chart.

Exploration: Is the child curious about the activity, object or person?
Realisation: Do they notice something has changed and react to it?
Anticipation: Do they predict what is about to happen?
Persistence: Do they keep trying or sustain attention?
Initiation: Do they start something themselves?

Getting started

Set up SEND in three steps

For schools and children's homes. Most settings are up and running the same day.

1

Import your pupils

Go to Pupils → "Add pupils" and upload a spreadsheet, or add them one by one. Each pupil gets their own SEND record — EHCP sections, outcomes and the Engagement Model ready from day one.

💡 Tip: Use the CSV template (Pupils → Bulk upload → Download template) to bring in names, dates of birth and key stage in one go.
2

Set the class teacher

Open the pupil's SEND profile and assign their class teacher under "Key adults". This drives the Leadership view — the SENCO sees every teacher's caseload, observation frequency and upcoming deadlines at a glance.

💡 Tip: Add TAs and therapists too — each key adult can log observations from their own device.
3

Link the family

In the pupil's profile, go to Family Portal → "Invite family". They receive a secure link — no app to download. Family moments and diary entries go straight to their portal, and they can reply. Replies appear in the pupil's record.

💡 Tip: Include a "Try at home" suggestion when you share a family moment — the portal makes it easy.
